Most guests at Shamwari arrive with their cameras and binoculars, but now the Eastern Cape game reserve is encouraging them to bring along their yoga mats.
Together with Angela Bott, who has a background in Inyenga practice and is a trained Vinyasa yoga teacher, it is presenting yoga weekend getaways on 19 – 22 March and 16 – 19 April.
“Many guests tell us how being in the bush helps them unwind and relax, so offering yoga weekends seemed a natural fit,” says Theo Cromhout, Shamwari’s general manager of hospitality.
The classes are accessible to yogis of all abilities. The weekend includes accommodation at the newly refurbished Long Lee Manor, a choice of a two-night stay and four yoga classes and meditation or a three-night stay with six classes and meditation.
In addition, there are two game drives a day, a visit to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, the Born Free Big Cat sanctuary and guided bush walks.
The cost is R4 850 per night per person and is all-inclusive with the exception of beverages, the conservation levy, spa treatments and laundry.
