Recognition of this boutique cellar continues apace
As the major annual national wine challenges and contests come to a close for 2018, Windfall Wines is delighted to announce to fans and friends that their wines have attracted several more awards from those contests they entered.
From the Ultra Value Wine Challenge they brought home Silver for the Windfall 2018 Chenin Blanc. This contest judges wines retailing at under R100, looking for great taste, a fine balance between fruit and body, and offering good quality and value for money. The judging panel commented that Chenin is the category that over-delivers in this price range.
The Amorim Cap Classique is a competition and quest to identify the best of our sparkling wines or MCCs and has been held annually since 2002. They awarded bronze to Windfall’s Mendola Blanc de Blanc vintage Cap Classique.
The judges of the prestigious Michelangelo International Wines and Spirits Awards liked the Mendola bubbly even more, awarding it Silver. And went on to deliver a Gold medal to the Windfall Chenin Blanc as well as the Windfall flagship label Barrel 41, 2015 vintage, a captivating blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Grenache.
Not only is Windfall wine cellar and farm finishing 2018 on a high note, as a boutique producer that is establishing its credentials in the bigger Robertson wine valley, but there’s more to come in the near future. Meanwhile we congratulate all involved in the production of vines and wines and wish them a great harvest in 2019.
Windfall Mendola Blanc de Blanc has delicate citrus characteristics with peach, guava and citrus blossoms being prevalent on the nose, which follow through onto the palate with beautiful nutty flavours. The crisp and refreshing acidity make it a perfect accompaniment to many dishes.
