When next you’re feeling peckish for familiar, uncomplicated comfort food, pop in for a quick and easy one-course lunch at Catharina’s Restaurant in Steenberg’s idyllic Cape Dutch surroundings.
Chef Archie Maclean’s pocket friendly one-course lunch menu has plenty of choice for a relaxed, no-fuss repast.
Options include pasta of the day, a selection of salads such as chicken Caesar and smoked salmon, toasted sandwiches, a decadent burger, and fish and chips with a twist. Chef Archie’s club sandwich at R125 is a toasted panini filled with grilled chicken, bacon and boiled egg with all the trimmings.
His take on fish and chips at R140 is battered kingklip with hand cut chips and a side salad. The ultimate beef Steenburger at R145 is piled high with gherkin, avocado, blue cheese and a fried egg. It comes with hand cut truffle parmesan chips and coleslaw. The one-course lunch is available from Monday to Saturday.
Your lunch will taste all the better with a glass or two of fine Steenberg wine, especially now that water has become such a scarce resource. To make sure their guests continue to enjoy the full, unbridled Steenberg experience, the farm has put water saving initiatives in place, making their winery, restaurants, and boutique hotel and spa less dependent on municipal water.
Catharina’s Restaurant is open 7-days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Sundays it’s the place to be for a lavish buffet-style feast and live music from 12h00 till 15h00.
