Firefish

FirefishLocated at the V&A Waterfront, Firefish serves fresh seafood with beautiful harbour side views. The menu includes all the usual favourites, like shucked oysters, fresh fish, and sushi, but also boasts a great selection of modern, unexpected dishes like devilled whitebait with yuzu and lime aioli; crispy prawns with confit lemon; and Szechuan crusted kingklip with soba noodles and chilli and citrus soy.

If red meat is more your style, there are a number of protein cuts on offer, all of which are charcoal-grilled with olive oil and sea salt. Vegetarians will love the small, but carefully considered menu, with options like roast eggplant with miso, honey, scallions and sesame seeds; and udon butter noodles with nori.

Salt

Situated in Kalk Bay, Salt was inspired by the Cape’s history as a trading post. As such, the menu is a diverse mix of international flavours, from German and Vietnamese, to Greek, Japanese, and Thai. The interior is eclectic and homely, with some seating on the street for those who want to soak up the bustle of the quirky area. Pop in for a healthy small plate, like sugar snap peas with chilli oil and mint salt; flash-fried zucchini with kale pesto; and wasabi dusted calamari with grapefruit and lemon.

For larger meals, expect fresh, zesty flavours like curried lentil salad with pickled beetroot and radish and kudu goulash with homemade pasta and plum compote. While the focus of the menu is on healthy, nutritious dishes, be sure to save space for their vanilla bean ice cream or sorbet of the day!
