Pets aren’t just floor decorations and food hoovers; they’re precious members of the family, which means that when it’s time to get away for the holidays, we don’t want to have to leave them at home…we want to bring them with us! Luckily, there are hundreds of pet-friendly accommodations in and around the Cape (clearly, people here are a fan of furry, four-legged friends) so with such an abundance of places to choose from, where should you plan your next getaway?

We’ve compiled a list of our favourites as well as what seems to be the general favourite of local dog owners. Please do note that it’s always the best policy to notify the property of your intentions to bring along your pooch when booking. This applies to all animals. Some guesthouses and hotels have restrictions on the sizes and the breeds of dog they allow into their rooms; some also apply an additional cleaning charge, so it’s best to iron out the details before you arrive. You don’t want to find yourself out of accommodation and out of pocket on the first day of your holiday!

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at our (and your) favourite dog-friendly accommodation and getaway destinations!
