English born artist, Jeannie Kinsler, moved to Zimbabwe as a young girl where she grew up, later making her home in Durban where she has been painting for the past 12 years. Under the initial guidance of her muse and fellow artist Pascale Chandler, Jeannie learned to see the powerful potential in every subject matter.
Drawn to dappled light and movement, Jeannie’s paintings are a figurative and fragmented representation of her fascination with the transience of life. Painting in layers using spliced photographs from which she works; Jeannie’s works are imaginative and largely influenced by luminescence in an attempt to create a perennial interpretation of those fleeting moments.
Jeannie’s work can be seen at StateoftheART Gallery in Shortmarket Street, Cape Town as part of the Untitled | Spring Group Exhibition – on until 30 September.
