Disney on Ice

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is the only way to encapsulate the Disney on Ice debut at Grand Arena, GrandWest yesterday evening!

If there’s one thing Disney on Ice is destined to do it’s to make magic materialise, children chatter and mothers emotional…well, wouldn’t you be if snowflakes fell on your eyelashes?

Fostered by International Production Company Feld Entertainment, the pizazzy production kicked off in Cape Town this week, in a jamboree for juniors, combining soul stirring stories, stunning costumes, dazzling lighting, intricate sets and melodious masterpieces to create a sensational show for families worldwide.

During its two-hour spell, which included a twenty-minute interval to stock up on sweets and slush puppies, the audience were spoilt for choice when it came to Disney definitives, performed by specialist ice skaters.

Instigated by cartoon curators Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck, the production took us through classics such as The Lion King, Finding Dory, Arendelle with sisters Anna and Elsa, the hilarious Olaf from Disney’s Frozen, Rapunzel, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Buzz and Woody, and Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie.

“As parents, we strive to find role models who embolden our children to choose kindness and exhibit the values we aim to impart, and this production of Disney On Ice truly embodies this goal,” said Executive Vice President and producer, Nicole Feld.

“With Dare To Dream, I want to inspire the youngest members of our families with the heroic stories of their favourite Disney characters and allow them to discover the hero within themselves.”

With songs including family favourites such as Frozen’s ‘Let it go!’, it will have you and your littlelins dancing in your seats!

Like most things Disney does, the show was not only outstanding but was also a beautiful bid to remind us that the love of friends and family is the most magical love of all.

If you move quickly you could still pick up a ticket or two for the next two nights, priced from R150 upwards.
