PASCALE CHANDLER

Still life has the rather unfortunate reputation in the contemporary art world of possessing a somewhat suburban approach, but Belgian-born, Durban resident; Pascale Chandler suffers none of these maladies.

PASCALE CHANDLERA master at her chosen medium – good old fashion oil paint – Pascale’s interpretations of age-old subjects through long lines and loose brush strokes, make everything seem like a misty dream.

Horses in her recent work speak to the vulnerability and fragility of the human soul, inverting their traditional association of power, victory and virility – hence the depiction of the skeletal architecture of their anatomy.
