The dishes are inspired by cuisines from around the world, so expect flavours that are quite diverse – from innovative veggie dishes like grilled seasonal mushrooms, gruyere cauliflower puree, radish and almond and parsley butter, to fresh seafood meals like spicy squid tacos, and a zesty lime cured tuna, coriander and spring onion salad. For more meaty flavours, try the Angus beef fillet, saffron braised lamb neck, or the fall-off-the-bone pork ribs.

La Parada

The latest offering from the Harbour House group is the brand new La Parada at Constantia Nek. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant has sunny outdoor seating for warm summer days, and if the wind picks up, the eclectic interior is cosy and packed with atmosphere.

The menu is influenced by the Spanish tapas style, but focuses on fresh local ingredients with an emphasis on beautiful presentation. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to tapas, so sharing is the perfect way to enjoy the variety of flavours – choose from options like charred octopus salad, beetroot cured salmon, roasted pork belly and prawn croquettes.

There are also a number of veggie options – think roasted tomato salad, cauliflower puree, and thyme roasted butternut – as well as low carb, high fat choices.

If you’re looking for a fine dining experience with a bit of a fun twist, Marc’s Table is a great option. Located in the Sugar Hotel in Green Point, the restaurant is a modern, sophisticated space suited to a special occasion with friends, or a little romantic indulgence for two.

Our best advice? Save space for dessert! You won’t want to miss the Cape malva pudding with amarula anglaise and gooseberry coulis.

Faber

Located on the picturesque Avondale wine farm near Paarl, the brand new Faber is a beautiful space reminiscent of a warm country home. Its farm setting provides the restaurant with the perfect opportunity to use fresh, organic vegetables from its very own garden, fruit from the orchards, and the eggs and free-range chickens are also sourced from the estate.

The menu is simple and subtle, with a focus on artisanal-style dishes. Homemade breads, rolls and fritters start the dining experience, and mains like beef sirloin, Graaff-Reinet spring lamb, and butter-roasted parsnips won’t disappoint.

The dessert menu is small, but with options like cream cheese and honey sorbet with coconut crumble and blueberry macaron, and peanut butter cake, with strawberry jellies, and roasted peanut butter, choosing won’t be an easy task!
