Reacquaint yourself with the old, and familiarize yourself with the new; these outstanding works of art and their masters have a lot to show off.
“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” -Pablo Picasso
2011 marks the year of Chris Denovan’s solid artistic formation. Edged on by loss, he quickly redirected his emotions to reflect on canvas instead of harbouring internal chaos.
In a few short years Chris has mastered the stroke of a paintbrush and transforms a blank slate into portrait-style paintings, often dangling between the realms of realism and abstraction.
Oil and enamel is his ‘go-to’ medium which he spends hours and hours perfecting on stretched canvas.
His inspiration is captured all around him from everyday people and their diversities that make them uniquely South African.
Chris’s key pieces hang at the StateoftheART Gallery in Shortmarket Street, Cape Town www.stateoftheart-gallery.com
