With just over a year as a destination concept store for South African lovers of designer fashion under its fashionable belt, Maison Mara’s online shop opened for business on Wednesday (29 June 2016).
“We love having a boutique and meeting our clients, but we realised shortly after opening that many of them live in Johannesburg, Durban and elsewhere in South Africa. So an online store was a logical next step. What’s more, some clients enjoy browsing online and selecting pieces to try on beforehand. With 60% of the store offering online – as well as all sale items from the previous season – they can now ‘windowshop’ 24/7,” says Kelly Withey, Maison Mara’s owner.
The online shop will offer a wide selection of altogether 20 fashion houses such as Courrèges (whose vinyl jackets top Withey’s wish list for this season), Petit Bateau, Balenciaga and Kenzo. Handbags, shoes, wallets and all the in-store candles and skincare products will be available online too.
Withey’s other picks, that will be available online too, are either a Proenza Schouler Hava bag or a J.W. Anderson bag and bright Kenzo prints. Whichever designer a client prefers, it will be easy to shop by name or otherwise by category and subcategory. Clients will be able to go directly to the sale selection too. “If a browser needs inspiration and ideas, they can click on ‘Mara Loves,’ our online moodboard where we post things we have fallen in love with; our Instagram posts and video content as well as our campaigns and the latest news,” says Withey.
Delivery will take five working days and the delivery fee is R200 to anywhere in South Africa.
Delivery is free on orders over R20 000.
After placing an order, a client will receive a confirmation email with a tracking code. Parcels are couriered to clients with Aramex.
